ELCA World Hunger and the LPPO

wh 4color smELCA World Hunger addresses domestic and international poverty through direct relief and by addressing the root causes of hunger.  ELCA World Hunger assists communities through:

  • Relief: provides food, water, housing, and health care during times of immediate need.
  • Development: creates sustainable, long-term solutions to ending hunger and poverty in families and communities through, for example, agriculture, education, job training, water, and health projects.
  • Advocacy: speaks with and on behalf of the poor and marginalized by advocating for just laws and business practices with elected officials, governments, and corporations both domestically and internationally.
  • Education: equips Lutherans to understand the root causes and solutions of hunger and to reflect upon how our own lifestyle choices affect the planet and those most vulnerable.

Evangelical Lutheran Church in America World Hunger and the Lutheran Public Policy Office are partners working to promote justice and seeking to end hunger in Washington State.  The hunger-related advocacy work of this office is supported by your gifts to ELCA World Hunger.
